Veronika Wang
Student Researcher & Engineer · Massachusetts Academy of Math and Science at WPI, Class of 2028 · veronikawang69@gmail.com
Education
Highly selective public STEM school located at Worcester Polytechnic Institute, with an advanced curriculum in mathematics, science, computer science, and engineering, built around independent research.
Research & engineering experience
Designed and built a UAV sensor-fusion platform fusing 16-beam LiDAR with FLIR thermal imagery through a dual-stream CNN on a Jetson Nano, with LOAM-inspired real-time SLAM for GPS-denied mapping; roughly 85% detection in simulated-rubble testing at sub-second latency. Also designed ReachLink, the mobile coordination layer, and built ReachOne, a wearable multi-arm robotic prototype. Presented as a research poster and talk with mentorship from engineers at Robostreet and Universal Robots.
Supported research on environmental and physiological resilience under senior scientists; worked with experimental datasets and established research protocols.
Designed, built, and flew drones; collaborated on flight operations and payload integration.
Exposure to autonomous electric vehicle development; assisted with data analysis and systems testing; represented the company at conferences and industry events.
Financial strategy and budget oversight for a student-run STEM nonprofit running research bootcamps and a startup incubator.
